About Hum
Hum, also listed as Hum Focus, is wordless music for focus, relaxing, meditating and sleep, at humfocus.com. One person makes it, and every setting shows its source.
Who makes Hum
Hum is made by Younes Mohammedi, a third-year medical student at European University Cyprus in Frankfurt. Younes went through the research on sound, attention and sleep, wrote the sound engine and wrote the science page, weak results included.
Why it shows its working
Hum was built so you never have to take its word for anything. Each setting comes with its reason and the strength of the evidence, the pulse’s rate is shown in Hz, and you can change or switch off anything. When a study is weak, the science page says so, and the blind test in the app lets you check the pulse on yourself.
What Hum does
- Music written live as you listen, plus a library of wordless tracks.
- A pulse in the band from 200 Hz to 1 kHz, near 16 Hz for focus, that you can see, change or switch off.
- A focus coach that reads your own ratings, and a blind test of the pulse on yourself.
- No analytics, ads or third-party scripts, on the site or in the app.
It runs in your browser, with apps for Windows, Mac and Android and a three-tap install on iPhone, all on the download page.
Not the other Hum
Hum at humfocus.com isn’t the Hum songwriting app, or any other app or site called Hum.
